Your Hurt Can Be Helped
Story By: Elysa Twenter
Why do we hurt?
Some go to the theoretical side, but some go to the feelings and emotions. Imagine those people who sit in the bathroom during passing periods so they don’t have to face everyone.
They are always late to class and they don’t care at all. They struggle getting up in the morning because they don’t think there is a point. To them going to school means getting up and facing the people who don’t care to see them.
Imagine those people who bully others. The ones who only bully because they feel bad about themselves. They feel if they kick someone else down then they don’t have to worry about what they are facing in life. Imagine the ones who suffer from low self-esteem.
Do you remember in elementary school when you had to fill out information about you? Questions varied from: My Dad is… or My Friends are… The teachers would post them on the bulletin board outside the classroom so that other teachers and students could see them. When Parent-Teacher Conferences came, the parents would search for their child’s work. Finally finding it, they notice under the “My Friends are..” section it says no one. They brush it off because they know their kid is joking, but what if they aren’t?
Imagine the people who don’t show anyone they are hurting. The people who ignore the feelings because their friends find it stupid. The ones who don’t feel like they don’t have a right to feel like they do.
What about those people who don’t know why they feel that way? They hurt others because how they feel haunts them and they feel weak. They tear others down because they feel stronger if they hurt others.
Imagine if you were one of these people…
How would you feel? Not being able to wake up everyday without feeling a certain way. Not knowing why you feel that way. You push it aside because your friends say its stupid. You start arguing with your friends and family because the feeling is too much. You start bullying other people because you feel weak and it’s the only way to make you feel strong.
You suffer from low self-esteem. You hide in the bathroom stalls during passing period because you don’t want to see the people who walk around everyday. You are always late to your class and you don’t care. You answer the question “My Friends are...” with no one.
What about how they feel.
