New Assistant Coach Making a Quick Impact
By Nick Ross and Parker LaRoche
Coach Miles Shelton is one of the many new additions to the Chrisman baseball coaching staff.
He is a Raytown South high school and Graceland university alumni. As an assistant coach of the varsity baseball team he plays a huge role in the proper training of the team.
Coach Shelton is mainly an infield coach and works hard to fine tune the fundamentals of every infielder.
“He has really helped me with my approach to the ball and just knowing what to do in every situation,” said junior Trey Stout.
This is Coach Shelton’s first year coaching high school baseball.
“I have a lot of fun coaching at this level,” said Shelton.
However, he doesn’t want to be an assistant coach forever,
“I figure I’ll be here for about 3 years to learn from coach Campa and then I’ll branch out and try to become a head coach somewhere,” he said.
“He helps me in more than just infielding, batting as well. He criticises me in every area of the game, fielding and batting. He has great potential and is already making an impact on our team,” said senior Tyler Woodward
