To call the next few weeks important for the speech and debate students might be an understatement. At least it is if you ask them.
“These next two weeks will be some of the most important ones of the season. Qualifying to nationals or state is the main goal, and I think we have people capable of reaching this goal.” Said junior Shawn Bunce.
As the season concludes the team still has two chances to continue tits season and qualify members to the state and or national tournament.
The team had multiple competitors qualify to state last year and many return and hope to go back and also qualify to nationals as well.
Senior Claire Cook and jBunce both qualified to state last year, and look to do so again.
“I was close to qualifying for nationals last year and qualified to state last year,” Cook said. “My goal is too qualify to nationals this year.”
Along with these two the team has a lot of young talent who have had quite a successful season as well and have high hopes for districts.
“After placing in the conference, I think we have a chance to do well in districts and possibly qualify to state,” said junior Tyler Edwards
Seniro Kelsey Newland also wants to get to state,
“I’ve placed a lot this season and look to end my senior year on a strong note,” she said.
