Bears Fall in Close Match Against Fort Osage
The William Chrisman girls’ tennis team played well but lost to Fort Osage 5-4 on Tuesday.
Every Chrisman and Fort Osage girls tennis dual has been extremely competitive and the overall results come down to the wire. Tuesday, was no exception as Chrisman lost a lengthy varsity match 4-5.
After starting with singles play, Coach Jason Grubb said he was very encouraged by the wins by Ally Cook, Juliette Anderson, and Celeste Cummins. The top 2 players Katie Schaefer and Izzy Jaynes lost their hour-and-a half singles matches by tiebreakers.
"Katie is still figuring out how to think like a #1 with all of the strategy associated with that and it was Izzy's first singles match of the year since she has been injured for more than 2 weeks. But both could have won at any point and they will once they regain that swagger and confidence," he said.
In doubles play it came down to a decisive #2 doubles pairing of Ally Cook and newcomer Celeste Cummins.
The Ladys Bears JV won 5-4.
