The Bears are continuing a historic run as the football team has now started 5-0 for the first time in more than 50 years.
“It’s a great time to be a Bear.” said junior defensive end Daniel Carson “All of the things coaches have been telling us since freshman year, about how we can change Chrisman is a reality now, and it’s a great feeling” said Carson.
As the Bears beat Raytown South 12-10 Friday night, advancing to 5-0, new barriers including a Homecoming win, a continued win streak and the confirmation of a winning regular season were broken.
“We’ve never won our Homecoming game in my four years here, on homecoming we’ve never really been able to celebrate homecoming like we did this year.”said senior cornerback Kyron Mason.
And the Bears did just that, chanting 5-0 throughout the parade, making sure everyone in the crowd knew of the bears current win streak.
“It was a cool experience seeing all of those people who support us and being able to celebrate in front of the whole city.” said senior quarterback James Bailey, who rushed for 104 yards and 1 touchdown.
But defense was the key to the bears win as they held a Raytown South offense who averaged over 25 points a game to 10.
“We got a lot of key turnovers and were able to play good defense against anything Ray South threw at us.” said sophomore safety Kelvyn Mason.
As the bears move into next week they prepare to face off against a solid Staley team who’s 4-1 on the season.
“They will be a challenge for sure, but we can play with Staley this year and it should be a good game.” said senior center Trey Stout.
