Chrisman Tennis Gets Big Win Against Fort Osage
The William Chrisman tennis team used strong play in both singles and doubles to defeat Fort Osage 9-0 on Thursday.
It was good for the team to regroup with a big win after a tough loss to Winnetonka last week.
Coach Jason Grubb had been fired up with the team in practices to correct fundamental mistakes and the Bears responded against the Indians.
It started with “incredible” doubles play according to Grubb and ended with Foreign Exchange player Mikel Casado's flying all over the court at singles # 6 en route to a 8-0 victory. Taniela Faletau won 8-1 at #1. Brett Wilson won 8-2 at #2 singles. Shaun Anderson won 8-2 at #3. Roman Campa won 8-2 at #4. Dakoda James won 8-1 at #5 and Mikel Casado dominated at #6.
"I'm so proud of my team's focus today,” Grubb said. “I challenged them to eliminate all double faults and silly mistakes so Fort would have to earn every point all day. I knew that if we played fundamental tennis, Fort Osage would have to overcome that first-match-of-the-season jitters."
#1 Taniela Faletau vs. Joseph Seaba 8-1 Win
#2 Brett Wilson vs. Blake Knisely 8-2 Win
#3 Shaun Anderson vs. Jack Tupinio 8-2 Win
#4 Roman Campa vs. Joseph Reeve-Barker 8-2 Win
#5 Dakoda James vs. Samual Sisk 8-1 Win
#6 Mikel Casado vs. Silas Munoz 8-0 Win
#1 Dubs: Taniela Faletau/Jose Mendoza (JV1) vs. Seaba/Knisely 8-0 Win
#2 Dubs: Brett Wilson/Dakoda James vs. Reeve-Barker/Sisk 8-4 Win
