Swim Successful Despite Small Numbers
Story By Envoy Staff
Two William Chrisman records have just been recently broken by the same person.
No it wasn’t on a field, nor was it in a basketball court. Instead, those records just happened to have been broken in a swimming pool by Slovakian ASF student Daniel Kuropka.
The events he had broken the records for were the 200 Individual Medley with a time of 2:07.85, and the 100 Butterfly which he finished at 0:57.12.
If two school records have been broken by the same person, how come there is not a lot of fanfare for it? There’s very few people acknowledging this feat, and many may just be finding out by reading this.
The most likely cause of this is due to the lack of exposure both the Boys and Girls Swim Team gets.
“I feel like the swim team may not get enough attention because swimming doesn’t take place at Chrisman at all. It takes place at Bridger Middle School.” Junior Swimmer Luke Rennison says.
Most of the sports take place at the respective schools, but swimming is different. Bridger is the only school in the district that has a full swimming pool, and it is a middle school.
With an increase in participation and attendance at various athletic events, it would be great to see that support for all sports. There needs to be more information going out, on when swim meets are and the results of those meets.
