Freshman Swimmer Making a Splash
Megan Bruch is an outstanding swimmer for the William Chrisman girls swim team.
She has placed in every 500 m swim she has taken part in so far this year, and the crazy part is, she’s only a freshman.
“This season’s going pretty well,” said Megan, “our team has progressed well and everything’s going well as the season continues.”
Although it is only midway through her first season, this 15-year old has numerous aspirations for the near future concerning her swim career.
“This season I want to place at the varsity conference, and to make some more improvements on our relay team.” says Bruch “Hopefully by the end of my high school swimming career I’ll be able to go to state.”
Megan’s team enjoys her company and sets a positive atmosphere for her and her team to be around.
“She’s pretty funny and easy-going which helps during meets especially when it can be a stressful time for all of us.” says sophomore Savannah Malam.
She has been a dedicated swimmer for a long time, and her teammates see it throughout practices and many meets they’ve had with her.
“She works hard and is very constant with the way she competes. You can tell she’s working hard but she makes it look quite easy.” says sophomore team-mate Mara Bradford
Megan stays well conditioned in the off-season as well by participating in volleyball in the fall where she stands out as well.
“She was a great leader during volleyball season and helped us focus when we were down, she would always motivate us to get out of our own heads and focus and usually when she’d be down we’d end up not doing so well so she played a great leadership role.” said Valarey Hodges.
“Swimming is her main sport though. I think she started swimming when we were in sixth grade and she always does her best to stay in the best shape for the season.” said Hodges
Not only does she participate in volleyball and the school’s swim team, but she also swims outside of school for team Tsunami.
There’s a bright future ahead for this young fifteen year old’s swimming endeavors.
“I would love to continue my swimming in college and even professionally if I get the chance to.” says Bruch
