Opening night of the winter play is here and director/teacher Kim Hayes is excited about what could happen the next three nights.
“I’m looking forward to seeing the reaction of the audience” said Hayes, “ I really think this is going to be a great show,”
Hayes’ excitement is shared among the cast and crew as it is opening night for Frankenstein, which is the Winter play that is being put on by the William Chrisman Theatre department. The play runs February 2-4 and starts each night at 7 p.m.
“The play is about a scientist who thinks he made the discovery of a lifetime but it ends up being a mistake,” said senior Jessica Lorenz, when describing what the play entails
The last time that Frankenstein was put on was in 2006, also under the direction of Hayes. There have been many improvements from that time, especially when it comes to the special effects, which is one of the aspects of the show that Hayes most enjoys.

“We’ve put in a lot of work into this play, and I think that will show on stage this weekend,” said junior Savanah Malam
Throughout all the preparation for this production, the cast has spent a large amount of time together and grown closer to one another. Junior Joe Day described the process as a “bonding experience.”
Lorenz said she enjoys the ending the most.
“My favorite part is the ending but I’m not going to say why. I also love the music,” she said.
Although this will be the last major play for the 2016-17 school year, many of the actors are beginning to look forward to the final performances for the year this spring.
“I’m looking forward to the next show, the One Acts,” Shaun Anderson said.
