Lady Bears Open With Win
Story By: Bre Poston
The season opener is always exciting for a team. It was even more so for the Chrisman girls’ soccer team as the opener was against rival Truman at Bingham.
The Lady Bears didn’t disappoint as they won 1-0.
Junior Adreon Bell scored the team’s lone goal just a little more than a wee kafter joining the team after helping the girls’ basketball team to a District title.
“Winning last night was pretty nice, but the fact that i scored the one goal that won use the game felt even better. Especially after one of Truman's defenders told me to stick to basketball,” Bell said.
The team, featuring six freshman on varsity, came together defensively, not allowing the Patriots to get many shots off.
Even though they were able to come off with a win at last night's game they still need to work on some things in order to make the rest of the season a success.
Senior Maggie Beem said, “We need to start connecting their passes, start working the ball through the middle, as well as taking shots when they are open.”
But, for the time being, the Lady Bears are celebrating the opening win.
“It felt really good,” junior goalie Sarah Erickson said.
