Chrisman Baseball Picks Up Fifth Win of Season
After coming off an 11-1 loss this past Saturday, the Bears came out fired up against non-conference opponent Raytown South.
The Bears put up 13 runs in the first inning, and batted through the order twice.
Bears coach Tom Campa told his team before the game that he wanted them to put together a full game, preferably a quick five inning spread. His team did just that.
“We worked the counts and forced them to use three pitchers in the first inning. I think this was a big confidence boost going into a tough stretch of conference games,” said senior Tyler Woodward, who added two RBIs in the first inning.
The Bears totaled 9 hits as a team and drew 6 walks. Junior Nick Ross went 2-4 driving in a run and raising his batting average to .368 on the season.
“I think I had a pretty good day. I had two hits in one inning, which not much people can say they have done. I’m looking forward to our upcoming conference games this week,” Ross said.
Will Fisher got the start on the mound for the Bears and went 4.1 innings only allowing five hits and one earned run.
The Bears came out on top with a final score of 14-3, propelling them to 5-2 on the season.
Chrisman will take on conference rival Fort Osage this Wednesday at 4:30 at Fort Osage High School.
