Bears Open Districts With Win

The Chrisman boys’ basketball team has gotten stronger all season and it has begun to play its best towards the end of the season.
“There's no better time to get on a hot streak, than during the playoffs,” said basketball coach Don Cameron. “If we can continue to improve and play with the same confidence we did tonight, we have a chance to make a run in the playoffs.”
And, the Bears have an opportunity to do just that after defeating their crosstown rival Truman 46-40 on Monday and advancing on to the district semifinals.
Leading the way for the Bears were senior DerRiq Moore, and sophomore Bryan Cox who combined for nearly half of the team's points and made some key plays in the final minutes of the game to seal the deal for the Bears.
“I was just trying to be a leader for my team last night, and tried to keep the energy up,” said Moore
As the Bears look towards their next opponent they now begin preparation for Thursday’s game against No. 1 seed Liberty High School, who handed the Bears a tough loss earlier in the year.
“They are a good team, but we’ve grown a lot as a team since we played them last, if we use the momentum from last game and play up to our potential we have a chance to go out and beat them,” said Cox
Along with the momentum the Bears also believe they have put together a solid game plan to better contest Liberty the second time around.
“Going into this game we know we have to contest all of their shots, have good ball security, and stop their key players,” said junior Daniel Carson. “If we stick to the game plan and use what we know about Liberty to our advantage , we can go out and win our next game.”
