Chrisman Students Hold Pep Rallies For Feeder Elementaries
Story By: Kayli Perez
Chrisman athletes, student leaders and cheerleaders toured the District’s elementary schools, visiting the seven feeder schools: Procter, Bryant, Ott, Mill Creek, Benton, Randall, and Spring Branch
The students were at each school for 15 minutes, spreading some spirit around with their cheerleaders leading chants. Students also spoke about the importance of staying in school, keeping attendance up, and getting involved.
Student Council President Faith Kolb represented what it was like to be a Bear, and how to get involved with some of the clubs and sports in high school. She then handed control over to seniors Trey Dumas and Eli Martin, who talked about how important attendance is. In between speakers, Chrisman cheerleaders led the students in some cheers, and a competition to keep them involved.
The high school students really enjoyed the trip.
Senior Daniel Carson he says, “We gained leadership and love for what we do if we didn’t already have it. Knowing that those kids were watching will push us to keep doing what we are doing.”
Not only was it a very fun experience for the kids, the high schoolers can take away more appreciation for what they do now, knowing the kids look up to them.
“The kids are preparing for their future,” Jasmine Harmon said. “We were showing them how and what they can do.”
The students in high school leave an impression on the little kids. Especially since it was in the assembly environment and they got to participate and learn some of the cheers their friends, family, or the high schoolers with them right there do.
Trey Dumas had a favorite memory at one of the schools laughing “I thought it was funny when Lilly (the cheer captain), asked who could be loudest as a competition between sides, and all the kids started screaming at the same time as loud as they could,”
