As seasons change the clothing of the students around the school change to suit the weather.
The staff at William Chrisman have noticed the changes in clothing on students on warmer days vs. colder days. Clothing seems to decrease at the temperatures rise outside, leaving the students in a situation to get reprimanded.
“Spring is actually the season where students tend to disobey the dress code rules,” assistant principal Dr. Randy Oliver said. “Although, there aren't that many students that disobey them. There are maybe 15 out of 700 girls that don’t follow the dress code during spring and summer.”
All violations are not by just the girls though.
“Usually we tell boys to pull up their pants more than we ever have to ask girls to cover up or pull their shirts up. Also, hats are another issue that we seem to have often,” he said.
Teachers see some issues but they do not necessarily.
“For the most part my students do really well, but the young men sag too much. On the bright side I have yet to see any young women wear anything that is deemed inappropriate for the school dress code,” broadcasting teacher Scott Hopke said. “I see freshmen and seniors disobey the dress code the most out of the whole school. I think the reason for that is because seniors, I think, figure that they won’t have anything happen to them if they don’t follow the rule because they are going to be leaving soon. The freshman just don’t have the rules cemented in their mind clearly yet.”
Students also see dress codes as a small problem, if any,
“I have never been accused of wearing anything inappropriate but for the sake of my classmates I do think some things should change,” Teresa Conroy said.I” think that they shouldn't be so concerned about spaghetti straps because summer is hot as and it's also hot in the school.”
Throughout the year most students at William Chrisman respect the dress code rules, although some don’t always follow the rules.
