Blue and Gold Singers Get Ready for New Year
In the Chrisman Vocal Music department, there are a few different choirs that people can be a part of, however there is one that only a select few get the privilege to be in and that is Blue and Gold.
In order to get into Blue and Gold, participants must complete an audition that involves singing one minute of a selected song and a sight reading test
With a successful school year coming to an end and ten seniors leaving, it is now time for the Chamber Choir to look towards next year.
Auditions have taken place and the list has been posted for the 2017-18 Blue and Gold Chamber Choir Singers and expectations for next year are as high as ever.
“I believe that the group has a lot of potential next year and looking at the singers in the group it looks like it's going to be a really fun year for them and I am very excited to hear how they do. I trust that the seniors and juniors will use their experience wisely and teach the new singers in the group how Blue and Gold works and how much fun it is to create music with other people,” said senior Kaitlyn Pangelinan.
There will be two new sopranos, four new altos, three new tenors, and three new basses. Majority of the new comers are freshmen however, there are some first time upperclassmen.
“I feel that the atmosphere is going to be very new because we are forming, essentially, a brand new family,” said sophomore Makenzy Magel.
Choral director Ron Patch is enthusiastic about the year to come.
Patch expects the 2017-18 choir to have a strong tenor section.
He also thinks that the sopranos will be much more developed after the year of experience that the primarily underclassmen voice part has gained.
After a huge intake of sophomores this past year, the group has underwent a lot of growth, growth that is expected to continue into next year.
Senior Kishon HoChee said, “Despite having only five returning seniors next year. all the sophomores have a year under their belt and know how Blue and Gold should be run. So, those people can step up and be leaders next year. I trust everyone in the ensemble that they will try their best to make it the best ensemble it can be.”
