Teachers Get Into Profession For Many Reasons
Story By: Taylor Shaw
A teacher is a person who works to educate others. To become a teacher you at least need a Bachelor’s degree in education or in the subject you are wanting to teach and they must meet any state licensing requirements.
Every teacher has a story behind why they chose their career. Some teachers become teachers because it is a family tradition, they follow in their parent's footsteps.
John Straub, a world history teacher says,“My inspiration to become a teacher was my mom and dad,”
When they were in high school some of the teachers today used to help their fellow students in tutoring. Geometry teacher, Michele Ratcliff, tutored students when she was in high school. She tried to help her fellow students understand certain subjects better.
“I started tutoring other students when I was in high school. I liked it because I was able to help other students understand what to do in their class. I had a bad algebra teacher and I told myself I can do better than her,” said Ratcliff.
Algebra teacher, Lindsey Ramsey says,“For high school, I went to Chrisman and I had a lot of good teachers, each teacher helped me by always pushing me to do my best. I wanted to be a teacher because it seemed like the right thing to do.”
Each teacher in every building has their own reason of why they became a teacher. Some reasons may be similar to others but not every single detail. There is a reason behind why they wanted to teach in elementary, middle school or high school.
The thing that most teachers have in common however, is that they all wanted to help young people. Teachers continue to teach because of the students. They continue to teach because of the relationship they build with the students throughout their years.
