Movie Review: Zootopia

Story By: Gabriel Spaulding
When 14 mammal mysteriously go missing in Zootopia, officer Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) and her blackmailed partner Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman) are on the case, and won’t stop until they know the truth.
From the creators of Disney animated films Wreck-It Ralph (2012), Frozen (2013), and Big Hero 6 (2014), and directors Jared Bush, Rich Moore, and Byron Howard, comes a vibrant film about anthropomorphic mammals living together in harmony, in a world in which hunting for food is no longer necessary and everyone is free to live in peace together.
There are a lot of things in this movie that are worthy for praise. It was vibrant in color, had a surprisingly good plot, riddled with a few unpredictable twists, and beautifully animated. It was most certainly a beautiful movie, and also had a lot of references that were thrown in for an older audience of parents with their kids and teens.
There was very little I can actually say was wrong with the movie. For example, while the plot was very good, it was somewhat simple, as to be expected with a movie made for children, but nonetheless was still very good. I suppose there was also some humor that was slightly off color, but for the most part it was laughable. There’s very little to be said against this movie.
Finally, this movie was easily very good and had very few flaws, and even though it had quite a bit of negative connotation surrounding it, it exceeded expectations of many people who went to see it and rightfully broke many box office records. This film deserves a solid 4.5/5 stars.
