Students compete in International Food and Chopped Competition for Culinary

These competitions are meant to further challenge and test the students in the culinary class based on the skills and techniques that they have mastered throughout the year. Their teacher, Katie DiRocco, further explains these competitions as "The purpose of these competitions is to showcase the skills they have learned and mastered over this year! The students love the competition aspect and they seem more motivated when we have these competitions. I developed the competitions based on what is relevant in their world today. Many students have seen Chopped and The Great Food Truck Race. It was easy to develop a competition due to their experiences! The students put a lot of work into these competitions by planning and developing their recipes and creating their food on competition day! It is fun to see them in action because they are so proud afterwards!"
