FBLA Reflects on Strong District Competition

On February 8th, William Chrisman’s Future Business Leaders of America members ventured out into district competition, and performed strongly.
Five Chrisman students excelled in their various events and qualified for state competition this April 26th through to the 28th in Springfield.
Dylan Kolb, Nikolas Steele and a team of Ronnie Cravens, Anna O’Renick and Sam Wimberly all qualified in this recent district competition.
Junior Sam Wimberly joined by seniors Cravens, and O’Renick competed in Sports Management.
“We studied a lot on our topic so we could feel confident going into it, we prepared well so we didn’t have to worry about much.” said Cravens “It’s my second year competing so I had a feel for what it was going to be like as well.”
O’Renick also has had experience in competing, and even excelling.
“I had previously gone to state my freshman year for a different category, but I felt more confident this time around because I knew how to prepare and what it takes to make it onto the next round of competition” said O’Renick
Unlike his senior counterparts, it was Wimberly’s first year, however he had the same confidence in himself as well in his team.
“It was my first year competing but I was fairly confident going into it, my team and I had prepared so much leading up to it. So I didn’t have the typical first year jitters that would usually happened.” says Wimberley “It helped to have two experienced seniors by my side as well to guide me.
Dylan Kolb, another state qualifier, competed in health care administration.
“I prepared a lot. I actually took an internship to help teach me about the area and codes that I didn’t know last year” said Kolb
Kolb surpassed his competition placing third out of twenty seven within district.
Nikolas Steele qualified in the personal finance category.
“I took the quiz online about personal finance.” says Steele, “I was fortunate enough to have taken the class and have somewhat of an understanding on the topic.”
These students will now focus on preparation for the next round of competition at Springfield.
“I feel as though we did really well, however we can do better by studying even more on our topic. It may also help our chemistry with each other to perform well as a unit rather than three individuals,” said O’Renick
