Choir Students Ready for All-Metro Auditions

Just as the academic school year is underway and in full swing, so is the year for the choral department.
All metro auditions are quickly approaching. They will be held on Saturday, October 7th.
Choral students have been working hard to learn and perfect solos to perform. Auditioners will have to have a piece prepared to sing and go through a small sight singing test.
“I’m trying my best to prepare for my audition. I think I need a little bit more work on my technique, but I plan on working on that over the next two weeks. It would be great to be selected for one of the choirs, but even if I don’t I’m going to use the audition process as a learning experience. Since I’m a sophomore I will have more opportunities in years to come,” said sophomore Makenzy Magel
There will be 24 students from William Chrisman and around 490 students auditioning in total. There will be around 30 people from each voice part chosen for All Metro.
Those that make it into All Metro and are juniors or seniors, will then get the opportunity to audition for All State Choir, which is an even more prestigious honor in the vocal music community.
However, that is not the only choir to work towards. Vocalists could also be placed into the Women’s choir or the Men’s Choir.
If individuals do not make it into the three choirs listed above and are freshmen or sophomores, they could also be in considered for the 9/10 Honor Choir. Choral director, Dr. Patch, hand selects the singers for 9/10.
There will be a lot of talent coming out to these auditions, but Patch has been advising his students to the best of his ability.
“I’ve told them to be really well prepared with your solo, practice sight singing, and practice being able to identify key signatures quickly,” said Patch.
Patch has also said that he expects to have a good number of singers chosen for the Women and Men’s choirs as well as at least five individuals in All Metro.
