ACE Students Make an Impact in School, Community
Story By: Arianna Martin
Over the past 15 years, students in Chrisman’s ACE, a volunteer-based organization, have completed more than 150,000 service hours.
The group helps the community and school through a variety of activities.
Senior Ashley Johnson said “you learn and give back.”
Sponsor Phyllis Moore believes community service helps provide for the community as for the students: Having the children do service for the community gives them valuable work experience, helps with public
speaking, knowing how to dress appropriately for occasions and events, and it could introduce
them to history/ what people can be in the future. They get really great experiences.
“Learn from your mistakes,” Moore said,
Helping the community is a great reason for community service. If children do community
service, they could follow in others footsteps. Later in life you would realize community service
helps with work experience.
“Make love not war,” sophomore Toni Robinson commented.
Sophomore Destiny McCully thinks that community service is for helping others. Children
nowadays get to experience a lot of things while doing community service. Everyone can also
get hours for ACE.
“Practice makes proficient” she stated.
