Bears Have Another Strong Day With Gary Parker Invitational
Many of the area’s top teams and track and field athletes traveled to Blue Springs on Thursday to compete at the Gary Parker Invitational. The Bears fared well against the tough competition with another day of medals, top finishes and PRs.
The Chrisman boys finished 11th out of 19 teams and the girls took 12th thanks to strong performances by the upperclassmen.
Senior Jordon Woods, who sat out last season with an injury, won the triple jump with a new PR and school record and then set a PR to take sixth in the long jump in just his second meet of this year.
Senior Daniel Carson took second in the shot put and third in the discus to add to the boys’ point total. Junior Camryn Hollomon was third in the triple jump and eighth in the long jump. She also matched her PR in a strong 200m run.
First-year track and field athletes Jacque David (freshman) and Jenny David (sophomore) continued to show great potential/ Jacque was third in the discus and Jenny topped her PR by four feet to finish fifth in the shot put.
Other top eight finishes were Reana Lagrone (7th - pole vault) and Tony Hilton (8th - 300m hurdles).
The Bears are back in action on Wednesday in the City Championships at Truman.
