Chrisman Tennis Falls Just Short of Blue Springs
William Chrisman will have to wait a little bit longer to claim a victory over the Blue Springs boys tennis team after a 5-4 dual loss.
"I know this is a big step for our program as I've never beaten Blue Springs team either in Girls or Boys seasons. I consider them a historical team that is quite challenging,” coach Jason Grubb said. “Add into it that we played them just the other day at our own tournament on Monday and that I'm missing 3 of my top 7 player, I knew it would be a close finish."
Varsity singles winners were Brett Wilson (8-5) and Dakoda James (8-4). The most encouraging sign of team development were the come-from-behind doubles victories by #1 team of Wilson and Taniela Faletau in tiebreak and the #2 team of James and Roman Campa (8-6).
"The lineup is very thin right now with injuries and other commitments that even my winners today have had sore shoulders, elbows, and wrists nearly every day over the past week,” Grubb said. “These guys are a great group to coach and they are starting to gel as a squad."
