Bears Continue Hot Start to Season

With the start of a new season, excitement is inevitable. With the Bears first 2-0 start since 1998, the excitement is warranted.
“It’s nice being able to say we’re undefeated at all three levels right now,” said head football coach Scorpio Horn. “We haven't won our first game of the season in nine years on the varsity level alone, now our Varsity, JV, and Freshman guys are all undefeated.”
As football season kicked off for William Chrisman high school, the bears varsity team began the season with a convincing wins beating Oak Park 35-6, and Ruskin 48-0.
This start to the season has been a completely new experience for the bears, as they put up a 28-0 leads at halftime in both games, and played two complete games of football.
“We never came out and just dominated a team from the beginning of the game last year,” said junior linebacker Emori Thomas.
These dominating performances from the varsity team, have carried over on all levels as the Bears junior varsity team beat Oak Park 30-0.
The Freshman team then finished off the week with a convincing 22-0 win, completing Chrisman footballs sweep of Oak Park.
“On the JV and freshman level it usually takes us awhile to put everything together and develop a team that can go out and win a football game, so starting off with wins at each level is a good sign for the program,” said JV head coach Carlos Alsupp.
With all levels playing solid football, the bears look to put another successful week together as the JV and freshman teams both play Ruskin, and the varsity team plays Truman.
