As the wrestling season reaches second semester, the wrestling career of senior Will Fisher is nearing its end as well. Fisher has had a successful high school career, earning a varsity letter all four years and becoming a staple in the wrestling program as a leader for the Bears.
Although he has been successful from the start, Fisher has grown during his career.
“I feel like I was always a pretty strong kid throughout high school even as a freshman. But as a senior my technique has improved so much and it has really paid off,” he said.
Sports play an important role in Fisher’s life. He wrestles, runs cross country in the fall, and plays baseball during the spring. He will end his high school career with 11 varsity letters (four in wrestling, four in baseball, and three in cross country.
But, wrestling stands out for one key reason for the heavily involved Fisher.
“Wrestling is really a good sport to take out anger and also to relieve stress,” he said.
Fisher has a record of 17-1 on the season, including a “season highlight” in taking first at the North Kansas City Invitational, he gives all the credit to “practice, repetition, and a lot of conditioning.”
And, it paid off at the NKC Tournament.
“This was the most challenging tournament I have ever been in so winning was more rewarding than any other tournament I have ever competed in,” Fisher said.
