Chrisman Students Shine at District Instrumental Music Contest

Thanks to the their performance on Saturday during the district Solo and Small Ensemble Instrumental Music Contest, four soloists and two ensembles from William Chrisman’s band and orchestra will represent the school at the State Solo and Small Ensemble contest in Columbia.
Soloists earning (I) Exemplary ratings and moving on to state were Kayla Stough (Violin), Ikaika Kahananui (Cello), Ally Vaughn (French Horn), and Sarah Erickson (Tuba).
Small ensembles earning the highest ranking were the String Duet of Sam Wimberley and Darryl Shaw and the String Quartet of Kayla Stough, Eli Brown, Leanna Branstetter, and Aaron Upton.
Chrisman’s overall results from districts included six (I) Exemplary ratings, 14 (II) Outstanding ratings and seven (III) Satisfactory ratings.
Soloists earning (II) Outstanding ratings were Tyler Knapp (Violin), Leanna Branstetter (Viola), Maureen Hennessy (Flute), Roberta Burns (B-Flat Clarinet), Maggie Beem (French Horn), Jose Mendoza (Baritone Horn), Destiny White-Dixon (Trumpet), Joshua Duke (Trumpet), Sam Wimberly (Cello), and Jessi Claibourn (Violin).
Ensembles earning the (II) Outstanding rating were the String Duet of Nayelia Figueroa and Jaydah Smith, the Percussion Ensemble of Domnick Braswell, Lilly Conner-Urnise, Kelsey Thompson, Jeffrey Parker, George Sherman, and Niccolas Joplin, the String Duet of Joshua Hagstrom and Lindsay Sanders, and the String Duet of Kayla Stough and Jessi Claibourn.
Mara Bradford (Flute) and Lexi Sharp (Viola) each earned (III) Satisfactory ratings.
Four ensembles also earned six (III) Satisfactory ratings, including:
