Winter Production of 'Frankenstein' Goes Smoothly

The 2017 Winter Play, put on by the theatre department was Frankenstein, under the direction of theatre teacher Kim Hayes. It ran from February 2-4.
For anyone that is unfamiliar with the play, senior Jessica Lorenz described it to be about, “a scientist who thinks he made the discovery of a lifetime but it ends up being a mistake.”
There was a lot of excitement centered around this production.The last time that Frankenstein was put on was in 2006, also under the direction of Hayes.
There have been many improvements from that time, especially when it comes to the special effects, which are one aspect of the show that Hayes looks forward to seeing. She thinks that the audience
Overall, the show went very well. There were nothing but good things to be said from those that came to watch and those that were actually in the play.
“The show went fantastic! Everything came together perfectly,” said Lorenz
Government teacher, Jason Grubb went to see the play on the final night and said “Frankenstein was fantastic! It was littered with amazing talent and the special effects were amazing. The cast and crew did a remarkable job on a very challenging play.”
There was a lot of hard work put into the show, from cast and crew alike. Sets had to be built and lines had to be learned. Actress Savanah Malam, who played Elizabeth Lavenza, said that she really had to “find aspects of [herself] in the character.”
Throughout all the preparation for this production, the cast has spent a large amount of time together and grown closer to one another. Junior Joe Day described the process as a “bonding experience.”
This was the final major production, from the theatre department, for the 2016-2017 school year.
