As the season gets under way The William Chrisman wrestling team began competition with decisive wins against both Oak Park and Raytown South.
Leading the way to victory were the Toese brothers, along with senior Will Fisher who swept their matches who look to be leaders for the team this year and have a successful season.
“This is just the start” said Senior Will Fisher “When it comes down to it, I want to go to state this year so that I can end my Senior year the right way.” said Fisher who won both matches against Oak Park by pinfall, and Raytown South by forfeit.
Along with Fisher The Toese’s have high hopes for this season as they both hope to continue to improve their skills and make a run at state.
“I want to reach my peak this season, I’ve constantly improved throughout my freshman and sophomore year and I think this is my year to shine.” said Junior Dominic Toese.
Along with the strong performances from Fisher and the Toese’s many of the underclassmen wrestlers stepped up and got key victories for the Chrisman Wrestling team.
Underclassmen Dylan Dejames, Jose Maravilla, and Coltyn Weston both won two decisions while Jacob Scott won one.
“We have a solid team this year.” said head coach Riley Glasgow “And the cool part is there are so many of these kids that are succeeding, wrestling at the varsity level that are underclassmen.”
