Bears Put Together Top Performance in Win Against Rival
The William Chrisman tennis team put together one of its best performances of the season during an 8-1 win against rival Fort Osage on April 28.
Coach Jason Grubb was thrilled with the Bears performance, especially from senior leader Austin Twenter, who picked up his first win of the season.
"He has been a true leader all year for our team, playing at the 2 or 3 spot against good players while the varsity newcomers Wilson, Anderson, and even Mendoza have won more matches lower in the lineup,” Grubb said. “I'm so proud of him and my team today," said Coach Grubb.
Chrisman singles victories included Taniela Faletau, Michael Marquess, Austin Twenter, Brett Wilson, Logan Heyer, and Shaun Anderson.
The doubles teams of Faletau and Jose Mendoza and Wilson/Anderson also won.
Still Grubb pointed to the “best moment of the day” as the singles victory for senior Austin Twenter, a captain of the team who was winless on the season prior to the match.
The Chrisman junior varsity won 5-4.
